SBC1200 Extra Large Sand Blast Cabinet

Featuring double fold up doors (front and back)
and two foot operated blast gun positions.

The SBC1200 sand blast cabinet features a large front folding door for easy loading and unloading. The SBC 1200 Sand Blast Cabinet is the largest abrasive sandblasting cabinet in our celebrated line of Sandblasting Equipment, sold by Greg Smith Equipment Sales. When we introduced the SBC 990 two years ago, we thought that our automotive shop customers would not need a larger size sandblasting cabinet. We were wrong.

Our assumption that all of our high quality (low priced) sandblasting equipment was purchased only by automotive shops was incorrect. We have sold hundreds of the many models of our sandblast cabinets to factories and various other industries that are unrelated to the automobile service industry. Many of these customers asked us to build a larger sand blast cabinet that incorporated an easy access for larger and heavier items than was accommodated by our very popular SBC 990 Sandblasting Cabinet. We decided that fold up access doors on both sides of the blasting cabinet would make it very easy for these large heavy items to be positioned inside the blast cabinet by two people or a mechanical lifting device.

Sandblasting Equipment Engineering and Customer Feedback

When we were designing and engineering the SBC 1200, we tried to implement as many of the requests and recommendations from both our current customers and potential customers.

The final product is the SBC1200 sandblaster cabinet. The SBC1200 sandblast cabinet features two large folding doors (one in the front and one in the back) for easy loading and unloading of large parts. The SBC 1200 has two foot pedal operated blasting guns located at the front and the back of the blast cabinet. We know that there are several models of sand blast cabinets that have 2 sets of foot pedals and 2 stations with gloves to sandblast (blast stations), but these models have the two operators standing next to each other rather than facing each other. The SBC1200 has a much wider blast cabinet area and the two operators are standing directly opposite from each other with long gloves that can reach past the halfway mark in the cabinet. The wider cabinet design of the SBC 1200 saves valuable floor space and allows the two operators (or one operator moving from front to back) to blast all sections of a large heavy item without moving it around inside the blast cabinet. Of course, if the sandblasting operation is only being done by one person, that person may move from the front side to the back side of the sandblast cabinet to obtain the best position for aiming the sandblast gun.

The SBC 1200 has a very powerful 110 volt attached vacuum system that keeps the work area clear by “sucking out” all of the loose floating material that is the result of the sandblasting process. The oversized lower blast media hopper collects and stores the abrasive blasting material for use and reuse. The spring loaded bottom hopper door opens easily allowing the operator to remove media that no longer provides good blasting results (worn out glass beads).

Sandblasting Equipment that is Ready for Any Job

The SBC1200 is always ready for just about any sandblasting job. The blast cabinet can stay connected to your air supply. You simply start your air compressor, hold the air gun pointed at the surface that needs to be cleaned and step on the foot pedal. Use your new sandblast cabinet to remove scale or heavy rust from automotive parts, clean up rusty tools, etch glass, or any other special application.

The SBC1200’s powerful vacuum system keeps the work area free of “floating” rust, paint particles and used glass bead shells. After the glass bead (or other blast media) “slams against” the surface to be cleaned, a portion of the bead is “destroyed” and becomes almost weightless. The vacuum system removes the “floating” rust particles and the “used up” glass bead shell while the “good beads” (heavier) fall into the hopper below the work surface. The SBC1200’s powerful vacuum system keeps the work area free of “floating” rust, paint particles and used glass bead shells. The SBC1200 uses the two (2) foot pedals to control the speed and flow of abrasives from the air gun. The foot pedal allows the operator to just “hold and point” the gun rather than the need to “pull the trigger” of the sandblast gun which can be very tiresome.

Air Compressor for Maximum Efficiency

It is extremely important for the operator to utilize an air compressor that delivers enough pressure and volume to maximize the efficiency of the SBC 1200. An air compressor that is too small for the job will run continually and ultimately not deliver enough air volume or pressure to do the job correctly. Before you buy a sandblast cabinet, please discuss the amount of air that can be delivered by your current air compressor. If you are going to buy a new air compressor along with the new sandblast cabinet, then you need to talk to one of the professionals at Greg Smith Equipment to point you in the right direction.
